Leeds Building Society Contractor Mortgages - Help and FAQs

I am seeking some mortgage advice. I am currently an IT contractor, 18 months into a 2 contract. the chances of me being moved onto an employed basis are slim. My question is, will Leeds Building Society even consider me for a mortgage before then? Is there such thing as a ‘contractor mortgage’?

For some years now I have been a self employed contractor. Mortgage options are being looked at but it's a minefield. Is it worth me considering whether it would be possible for my boyfriend to get the mortgage with Leeds Building Society in his name using our joint deposit and for me to be added at a later date?

Does the CML Lender's Handbook set out the requirements for Leeds Building Society when it comes to contractor mortgages or self-employed mortgages.

Me and and my wife are soon to submit for our first mortgage application with Leeds Building Society. Later this year I start working as a contractor. My wife is time employed as a lawyer and does have a six figure salary. Is it going to be a case of just getting a non-contractor mortgage with Leeds Building Society in my wife’s name alone?

I am finding the process of looking for a contractor mortgage very frustrating. I can't seem to find any lenders who really understand my situation and the peculiarities of being a contractor. Are there any mortgage underwriters who apply a common sense to ensure getting a contractor mortgage is as straightforward as possible.
